Eating with Kids on Kauai

Our 3 generation family is heading to Hawaii in July - a couple days on the Big Island, and then a week on Kauai (Waiohai Beach Club on the South Shore). We'll have 4 boys, ages 9-13 to feed while we're there. Any suggestions for fun, casual dining that won't break the bank? Grocery availability? Thanks!

Wow nice place. Paradise.
Only convenience stores nearby, a 7-11 a few miles up the road. I would bring groceries from the Big Island if you find a market near you.

There are grocery stores on Kauai, no need to bring from the Big Island. People live there afterall.

Hopefully songdoc will see your question . . .

Thanks for the heads up on Keoki's and Brennecke's. Hoping that the resort has grills - we have kitchens in our villas so I think we'll be able to do some meals in. If you think of any other spots that will work for kids (food choice, fast & easy, not exorbitantly priced), let me know. We're all excited for the trip and plan to take some great hikes as well as snorkeling, helicopter ride, etc.

I second Keoki's. It's part of the Duke's/Hula Grill family of restaurants. It's a bit of a gimmick, but Puka Dogs right across the street from the beach is popular with my kids.

We visit Kauai and Poipu a couple of times per year, but stayed in Poipu for the first time during our visit in January 2023. We noticed there was only one market in the area now (Kukuiula on Poipu Rd). The pickings were slim, though Waikomo Shave Ice in the parking lot is my family's favorite shave ice on the island. You may want to consider stocking up on groceries on the way in at the Big Save Market in Koloa or the Farmer's Market in Lihue. Walmart and Costco are actually really good places to pick up snacks.

While in Lihue, my kids really enjoy the saimin and lilikoi pie at Hamura's Saimin, the pancakes and ox tail soup noodles at Tip Top, and the plate lunches from Mark's Place and Fish Xpress. The latter two are basically takeaway only.

I was also going to mention "World Famous" Tip Top Cafe in Lihue. Hit up the Costco on your way to Poipu.
