Eating w/children in DC

Can anyone recommend good and interesting places to eat w/children? I'd like to get beyond the chains- good ethnic, seafood, etc. A good sandwich shop with takeaway would be a plus. What are your thoughts on Hunan Chinatown? Thanks!

Kids might enjoy Ethiopian - sit on the floor, eat with your fingers - just what they want to do anyway! There are tons of good Ethiopian spots in DC, many along 18th Street in Adams Morgan. One of my favorites is Meskerem on 18th St.

Also, the Washington Post website has this list of places that are good to go with kids:
http://eg.washingtonpost.com/search?...sort=rank-desc

If your children are somewhat adventerous I would take them to have dim sum in china town.

The Ethiopian restaurants in A-Morgan are great, but usually VERY spicy; the kids would like eating with their hands, but you may want to consider their tolerance for spice.

Cafe Deluxe in Upper Northwest is a favorite for children. There's also Generous George's in Alexandria, which makes great pizza, plus caters to kids pretty well. I believe either the Washington Post or the Washingtonian did an article on great places to take kids in the area, so you may want to check on their websites for more info.
