Eating near Javits Center NYC
My husband will be at the Javits Center for several days this week. He would like to meet me at restaurants for lunch around that area, but doesn't want to waste too much time on a cab ride. Any suggestions? I could get to the restaurants 15-30 mintues earlier to get a table. We like all different kinds of food.
Thanks, Cindy |
There really are no restaurants in that immediate area. But whenever I'm at the Javits Center for a show, I always go to Manganaro's Hero Boy on 9th Ave between 37th and 38th for lunch. The "Mile High Heros" are delicious...and HUGE.

You're basically between Chelsea and Hell's Kitchen, so it's pretty gritty right around the Javits but there are some selections about 10 blocks out in both directions, north and sout. I've been taken to all of these for lunch while being stuck out at the Javits:
Bottino is on 10th Ave. between W. 25th & 26th Streets. http://www.bottinonyc.com/ Milieu on W. 26th Street at 11th Ave. Parish & Co. is 9th Ave. at W. 22nd St. http://www.parishandco.com/ I know you'll need reservations for Milieu. |
Whoops! Forgot about the delicious beignet sandwich I had at Marseilles in Hell's Kitchen. It's on 9th Avenue at W. 44th Street. Oh boy, stomach's growling!

It's true the area around the Javits center is a bit of no man's land b/c it's so far west. You might have a look at the west 30s and west 40s on menupages.com The Cupcake Café is close at 9th Ave (at W 39th St) and has soup and sandwiches and good cakes and pastry. Hell's Kitchen at 9th & 47th is a bit of a walk for him but has very good Mexican. Restaurant Row at 46th between 8th & 9th has one place after another. Here's the website
