Eating Lobster In Boston

Can anybody out there tell me a good place to eat lobster in Boston, preferably at a happy hour?

I remember a restaurant in Fanueil Hall that had a lobster special from 4-6 but I no longer remember the name of the place and doubt it's even there anymore.

Al, the Union Oyster House is near Haymarket and Fanueil Hall--is that the one you're thing of? It's been around for decades. They definitely serve lobster, but I can't tell you if they have happy hour specials.

"The Black Rose" has a number of specials during that time frame, including seafood. It's not really a seafood restaurant, nor do I eat seafood, but their steaks & sandwiches were good ... more an Irish pub. It's a couple minutes walk from QuincyMarket. I'll bet Union Oyster House (never been there) is what you're looking for, tho

Happy Hour for Lobsters in Boston...this I have to find out..lol We just picked up two lobsters all cooked for $11.99 for two at the supermarket..Lobster this year is very expensive because of the weather, etc. Check out www.chowhound.com and go into the Boston site.. There is the Barking Crab, No Name which probably both have lobsters... Legal Seafoods (overpriced IMHO), Skipjacks..and probably any seafood restaurant in Boston is serving lobster now..Sent somebody to the Jasper White on Dalton Street a few weeks ago she said it was fabulous.

Thanks for your suggestions. The place I'm thinking of was in Fanueil Hall, in the building opposite the one with the marketplace inside, all the way on the lower end of the building. (I think that's the south building.) Like I said, this was years ago and it's probably long gone.

I'll post again next week to let you know what I found out.

Durgin park?

Skip the Black Rose. I ordered fried clams there and got clam strips. It's nothing special and not particularly Irish. In fact a couple of real Irish Pubs opened up in the area.
The Union House will set you back over $20 per lobster...overpriced. Lobster just went down and is sellin for $5.99 a pound for quarters.
The restaurant you are talking about could have been Durgin Park.

You may be thinking of SEASIDE where they had lobsters for happy hour. It's no longer there. Replaced by "Kingfish Hall" - more upscale, much more expensive, but DELICIOUS. You cannot go wrong eating there. Only thing better is if you're on an expense account.

The Barking Crab

Another vote for the Barking Crab (bring your own rock!) or

Legal Seafoods

I tend to doubt Union Oyster House has happy hour specials. I would not eat at Black Rose for anything other than food to wash down your beer. And I wouldn't eat at Legal's (chain restaurant) when you have "real" seafood places nearby. Kingfish Hall is delectable, I've eaten there several times and each time is better than the last. Particularly their lobster grilled cheese or shrimp roll lunch (I work across the street, great perk!). Barking Crab has a great reputation with locals. Or head for the North Shore, Essex and Gloucester, where the lobsters are off the boat and on your plate in a matter of minutes. THAT'S the best seafood to be had around here, trust me!

al, When I am in boston I find the best price on lobster is at the Purple Shamrock across the street from quincy market. Also got a good deal in the downstairs bar at Durgin Park (not upstairs in the dining room).
