Eating in Haleiwa
We will be staying two weeks in August in a home on the water near Haleiwa. Does anyone have recommendations for restaurants in the area - fun, casual and good for the kids?
Also heard that there is a surf school in the town - has anyone ever had lessons there? |
In Haleiwa:
Breakers - American Cholo's - Mexican Killer Tacos Pizza Bob's Rosie's Cantina Matsumoto's - shave ice Aoki's - shave ice Spaghettini - Italian More expensive in Haleiwa: Haleiwa Joe's Jameson's By the Sea Wahiawa: Jimmy's Lakeside Cafe/Bakery - Great inexpensive pizza If you go to Dole Pineapple, Helemano Plantation right next door has a decent priced Chinese buffet for lunch. http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34812564 |
You're going to spend the whole 2 weeks in Haleiwa? Nice place but....no action?
I want to add Miura's to the list of shave ice places. Most people know Matsumoto's (they must have the best PR) but I prefer Aoki's and my family goes to Miura's. |
Good for you and the kids: Kua Aina Burgers in Haleiwa. Sooooo good!

My favorite place to eat in Haleiwa is the Paradise Found Cafe, which is a small little "restaurant"--most people do take-away--at the back of the health food/organic grocery store next to McDonalds. They have excellent vegetarian food for cheap. Only open for lunch though.

Thank you all so much for the tips - we will probably go out to eat at least a few times, and the kids always love to get shave ice (it almost becomes a daily ritual).
Melissa - I know it sounds like a lot of time in a quiet place, but that is just what we are looking for - surf, sand and some places to eat out. I am looking forward to doing a lot of reading on the beach!! |
