Eating in Disneyworld/Hotels
 

Hi All, My grandsons 7 & 12 have traveled
alot. Would like to take them someplace, not too expensive, for dinner at a fun or
unusual place in the parks or at a hotel
restaurant while at Disney.

"Downtown Disney" is very geered to kids. They have a Planet Hollywood Restaurant among others. The Rainforest Cafe, adjacent to Animal Kingdom, would be another good choice.

Inside MGM Disney, we love the Sci-Fi Diner, where you're seated in convertible cars and watch old movies. Also, 50's Prime Time Cafe is great fun.

Rainforest is a cool place. If you want to splurge a little, Chef Mickey's is great and is a character meal. One really good budget suggestion is trying a character meal for breakfast rather than dinner. It will be less expensive. A great place is the Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge. It's cowboy themed, they get the kids up and make them play games during dinner. Try to make a reservation though as the wait can be long... here's the link http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw...nyonDiningPage

Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge or O'Hanas in the Polynesian are two that come to mind.

I second the recommendation for O'hanas at the Polynesian. They do a neat family style meal and have games like sweeping a coconut across the room with a broom. Our kids loved it.

Boma's at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (hotel) is another neat place. It is a buffet with African inspired dishes. Our whole family thought it was great and the AK lodge was an event in themselves. They have their own animals to view. You'd have to check the schedule but there is a fire pit in the back there and at times they have an African storyteller.

Another fun place is "Beaches & Cream" over at the WDW Boardwalk hotel. It is a tiny little restaurant and is done in the soda shop style. They have mostly burgers and some amazing ice cream deserts.

Two good site's dining sections to look at are wdwinfo.com and allearsnet.com. Both have menues and pricing information.

The sit-down restaurant at the Mexico exhibit in Epcot is always popular with kids.

Our favorite meals were the Epcot restaurants; the Japanese Teppanaki (sp?) where they cook at your table and the Coral Reef restaurant where you are eating alongside a giant aquarium.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and I can second Whispering Canyon - although it was only my husband and I we had a lot of fun and the kids around us were really having a blast.

-whispering canyon is great but maybe not as kid-friendly?

-beaches and cream would be perfect. good diner food and great desserts, and a nice setting near the beach club pool which is beautiful.

-Boma's is an excellent suggestion too, very unique - though not good for the very picky eaters.

-the 50's cafe in mgm studios would be another great pick - the waitress is named "mom" and they have 50s sitcoms playing in the background. you'll feel like you're in a living room.
-the rainforest cafe is fun for the atmosphere - though the animals are a little loud for conversation- but the food there is overrated.

-cape may cafe at the beach club is great for a character breakfast, and it's a buffet (but much better than "buffet food") so everyone can find something

-spoodles is a good choice, and it would allow you to see the very neat boardwalk hotel. that one and the beach club are both a pretty walk away from epcot.
