Eating at MIA or FLL

In the next two months I will have long layoevers in both these airports. Where should I have my lunch?

In Fort Lauderdale, go to Ernie's. It's about 1 mile north from the airport entrance on US 1. It has bar-b-que and also specializes in conch dishes. It's got of lot of "local character." Very well known in the area for 30-40 years.

There is an outpost of Versailles, the world famous Cuban restaurant in MIA.

I guess with a long layover, it would be okay to venture out for food in FLL. having just returned from there, it has to be on the bottom of my list for airport food. They have pizza and spaghetti at a sit-down area with bar; it's run by Sbarro's and I can't stand their greasy food. Other than that, you have a deli style place with foccacia sandwiches and a wrap place. On weekends when there are cruise passengers coming and going, you can never find a table.

Oh, GoT, sounds perfect. Linda, you captured my recollections of FLL perfectly.

The Cuban joint inside MIA is really good. If you want to take a taxi from FLL, there are two good options. One is the Caspian Persian Grill in Plantation. They have a Persian lunch buffet that is fabulous. The other is the Rustic Inn where they have these garlic crab legs that are so good. It is right on the water and there is newspaper on the table and you pound the crabs with little hammers. Both are great places.
