Eastern Oregon road info needed

Heading to Bend on the way to the coast. Would either take Hiway 20 from Ontario or Hiway 95 up to Burns from I80 at Winnemucca. It would be my sister and me(in our early 60s). We would be traveling in the daytime.
Guess what I am mainly interested in is how deserted are they? Okay, maybe I'm wimpy to ask, but I just like to know what I might be getting into.

Thanks for any info.

Linda

You're coming from Ontario, OR?

Yes, from Ontario, Oregon. Actually starting in Grand Junction CO and trying to choose between going north through Salt Lake City and catching I84 up through Boise or west out of Salt Lake on I80 and going north out of Winnemucca on Hiway 95.

It's faster going through Boise. The scenery will be better too. You'll go over the Snake River and see Hell's Canyon.

Going via Winnemucca there is nothing to see. Just desert.

20 is a OK road. If you take 84 north and you are intent on going to Bend, you'll have to head
back South at some point.

Agree with BoniseA, Going via Winnemucca there is nothing to see, just desert with no redeeming value that I remember from many trips on that route.
