Easter in Chicago

We plan to spend Easter in Chicago arriving Good Friday leaving Sunday. Staying at Drake as we are a little 'old fashioned" - like shopping and good food etc., We are in our early 50's - did we make a good choice of hotel etc.? Presume Good Friday shops are closed - we will not arrive until late afternoon.

The Drake is an old-fashioned hotel with a lot of charm. I hope you enjoy it. Shops will be open all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday - this is a city of many religions, after all.

The Easter buffet at The Hilton Towers is wonderful. Gorgeous room, fabulous food. Call for ressies.

I live in Chicago. My friends, who used to live in Chicago, picked the Drake Hotel for their recent visit. Yes, you made a good choice. It's a great location. I think Princess Di stayed there when she visited Chicago.

You should do afternoon tea at the Drake either Saturday or Sunday is you have time.

Wow, what a coincidence. Another Fodorite coming in on Friday and leaving Easter Sunday, and also staying at the Drake. Few more and we could rent a conference room for a Fodor get together party :-)<BR>Have a great trip!

I lived in Chicago for 8 years-it is an amazing city. You are in a great location at a fabulous hotel. Definitely check out some of Chicago's restaurants-that's what it's famous for! Within walking distance are 2 places that I always enjoyed. Not too fancy but really nice, classy places. Go to Bistro 110 and the Blackhawk Lodge if you can. You will find a lot of shopping on Michigan but also look at Oak Street, which as some nice boutiques and a Barneys. Check out citysearch.com for more ideas. Have fun and enjoy!

Abby, hate to disappoint you but the Blackhawk Lodge closed and reopened as yet another (gak) sports-themed bar/restaurant. But, just walked by Bistro 110 at lunch (it's sunny &amp; beautiful today!) and it was packed as usual. Oh, and for shopping, definitely head down Field's on State Street ... it will have up the spring flowers displays for Easter and they are gorgeous.
