Easter dinner in San Francisco - any suggestions?
 

We will be in SF over Easter weekend and would like to make some plans for dinner on Sunday evening, perhaps even make our reservation now. I've done the research on this site and understand that most people suggest staying away from restaurants at Fisherman's Wharf which is where we are staying. We do not like buffets (many restaurants in my area do buffets for Easter dinner) so I would like some suggestions for a nice restaurant within walking distance or maybe a short taxi ride from FW which will not have a buffet or at the least give some menu choices for dinner. Does anyone living in the area have any suggestions? Thanks.

Marianna..it depends on what you want to eat and how much you want to spend. The SF Chronicle magazine has a review of the 100 best bay area restaurants this weekend past. You absolutely should make your reservations ASAP.

One place that comes to mind is Kokkari(great greek and med food-the lamb id very good))..you might also checkout Boulevard but reservations there are hard to come by. Given that it is easter you might stand a better chance of getting a table there.

With 6 days to go your options will be limited.<BR>I'd start calling around now and find out who still has open tables.

Suggest you look at Zagats - special categories will help you. Plan on a short taxi ride - unless North beach and Embarcadero are your style. What type of food do you prefer?

Thanks to everyone for the help. I had a feeling, gplimpton, that we needed to make a reservation ASAPbut my husband is one to wait until we get there. Thanks, PamSF, for the tip about the restaurant reviews. I will try to get it online as I did the NY Times review of Bodega Bay Lodge and Spa which was very helpful. Rhtt, we like just about everything (maybe too much - which makes it difficult to keep off the 25 pounds I lost!)- seafood, beef, lamb, creative pasta dishes, etc.
