"East Village" restaurant
 
Need a suggestion for East Village restaurant for a Sunday brunch or lunch before a 3;00PM matinee in that are ..Has anyone seen "avenueq" ?

Budget? Specific location of your matinee? Desired atmosphere? Dining companions? Sorry for the Qs, info on these items will make for a better recommendation.

If Indian's your thing there are lots of places to choose from on 6th Street between 2nd and 1st Avenues. Mitali (on 6th) is very good, and Royal (on 1st Ave. @ 6th) can be too. <BR><BR>You could try the 2nd Avenue Deli for big sandwiches. 10th is the cross street, I think.<BR><BR>There's also a Polish restaurant on 2nd Ave. and 9th, called Veselka that's very good.<BR><BR>Benny's Burritos (Ave. A &amp; 6th) is around there and that's good too. Cash only.<BR><BR>There's Holy Basil for Thai (2nd Avenue b/w 9th and 10th).<BR><BR>There's Mecca for Southern food (Ave. A &amp; 2nd St.).<BR><BR>There's Two Boots for pasta/pizza with a Louisiana flair (Ave. A &amp; 3rd St.)<BR><BR>Veniero's for coffee &amp; pastries (1st Avenue &amp; 11th Street).<BR><BR>I eaten at them all and can vouch for every one.<BR><BR>

Avenue Q is an adult puppet show. It is hilarious. You will have a ball. The theater is actually closer to Union <BR>Square or Gramercy than the East Village. 15th Street I think? On 18th &amp; Park you could try either Park Avalon or City Crab. Both have music with their Brunch.

Ellen ...you were right...Avenueq was a wonderful theatre experience and i am stll smiling when i think about it .We ended up eating at Zen Palate and it was perfect for a &quot;before matinee&quot; lunch .Thanks to all who answered my request......Saw &quot;I Love You ..You`re Perfect..Now Change&quot; another fun show

Mama's Food Place on Avenue B and East 3rd is really good...

A good restaurant in the area is Lan, which is on 3rd at 11th St. It's a short walk to the theatre from there and then a MUST is Veniero's after theatre for coffee and pateries. It is one of the BEST pastery shops in the city. on 11th and 1st Ave. <BR><BR>Have a great time.
