east coastline route

Couple pushing 60, traveling to Baltimore late Sept. Would like to travel up coastline. Any suggested routes, accomodations, restaurants? Will be driving and like looking at scenery, shopping, good seafood and "local" diners. Suggestions or websites for east coastline travel for a week appreciated. Thanks

Where are you starting from?

It sounds like they're starting in Baltimore but the question is which way are you headed, north or south? Mapquest.com and maps.google.com are good websites for directions and more info.

One option is to hit the outer banks
of North Carolina, Charleston and Savannah, Ga. Route 17 is supposed to be beautiful. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_17

But from where?

We will be starting in Baltimore going north up coast.

How far north did you want to go? One idea for scenery is http://www.winterthur.org/ in Delaware.

Ocean City and Rehobeth Beach both in Md. are very popular.
