East Coast Island Ideas?
I'm looking for an island off the East Coast which would be a lovely place to relax. I've ruled out Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket and also Sanibel because of the been there done that thing. I'm considering Block Island, but does anyone have any other ideas perhaps from the mid-atlantic down to Georgia? Thanks for any ideas you might offer!

Ocracoke perhaps?

Pawleys Island, Sullivans Island, Wild Dunes, Fripp Island, Hilton Head. All in South Carolina

Thank you very much. Other than Hilton Head they are all places I've never heard of and are exactly what I'm looking for. I look forward to doing some research on them.

Add Topsail to your list. We spent a week there last month and it was great. Warm water, nice breeze, clean beach, friendly people. Safe enough that most days we didn't even lock our motel room door, really, and I think the closest we got to sharing beach space was about 20 feet. It's probably even less crowded now that the kids are going back to school. I can't wait to go back.

We love Fripp Island, S.C. It is the last island in a chain known as the Sea islands. It is gated, very safe and well designed. Plus there are many historical sites close by such as Beaufort - a very charming southern town with loads of history. The Big chill, Forest Gump & George of the Jungle were all filmed in and around this area. Another smaller island connected with Fripp is Harbor Island, it is gated and you are given a pass to all the services of Fripp but the houses rent for a little less.

xxx forgot to mention the most important island on the east coast, also in South Carolina, Parris Island!

Relax on our beaches, visit our lighthouse, take a deep sea fishing cruise, eat and relax to your hearts content. Immediately after labor day we are very laid back and relaxed here and love an occassional visitor or two.
