Easiest way to get to monster park?
Hi
I'm planning to see the 49ers game on sept30th I've checked the monster park site and transit511org but all of the itineray seems a bit difficult for travellers.(too many transits) Could someone tell me an easy way to get there? I'm staying at a hotel near union square, and it's okay to get a cab for few minutes. or how long/how much does it cost to ride the cab all the way through? thanks |
There is a bus called the 9X BALLPARK that picks up at Stockton and Geary (Union Square) that takes you to the park. Here is the info:http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mroutes/3comsvc.htm#maps. This is fairly straight forward EXCEPT note that you catch the 9X BALLPARK Express and not the 9X Bay Shore Express.

thank you SAB.
But I think ballpark = AT&T park and it's different from monster park? correct me if I'm wrong. |
AT&T Park is baseball only.
49ers play Candlestick, now known as Monster Park. |
mako - if you actually look at the link SAB provided - it IS for the direct buses to Candlestick/Monster Park.
That is by far the best way to get there for most visitors . . . . |
As janis has posted take a look at the website, the ballpark serviced by the 9X BALLPARK is Candlestick/Monster, the football ballpark you were asking about not the ever name-changing telephone co. baseball park.

I will definately take this bus!
Thank you SAB, everyone! |
Way to go, SAB! Always accurate, spot on advice! :)

We are going to the 49ers/Rams game in November so this information is really useful. Thanks, Everyone!

Everyone who posted about the busses to Candlestick (OK, Monster Park), if you're going Round Trip, be sure to note the bus number and where it parks. There is a huge, I mean enormous, bus parking field and finding your bus after the game can be a challenge if you don't have the right information.

Does any company run a "football shuttle" from the city on game days?
|
That's really what the public bus system does. For example, I live in a suburb about 10 miles south of Monster Park. On game days, the buses line up, and as soon as one is full, it leaves for the park and they start filling up the next one. The buses stay at the park, I believe, during the game and return to their original location after the game.

MUNI usually runs special (overpriced :) ) buses to the game. I always see them on Van Ness, clearly marked, full of fans in uniforms.

Okay, Monster Park, the Hawaiians are coming!
We hope our Hawaii athletes do well: Ashley Lelie for the 49ers and Pisa Tinoisamoa for the Rams. |
