Easiest way for 6 people to get from airport to MGM Grand on a Saturday afternoon?

We are arriving at McCarran at 3 pm this Saturday and will be staying at the MGM Grand. In the past we've taken a tax or shuttle but is there an easier way? Should we reserve a limo or take the shuttle? Any suggestions? Thanks!

With 6, I think you should call Las vegas Limo and see what kind of deal they can give you.

I took the MGM shuttle once, but there were only 2 of us, so the cost was something like $25 round trip. So for 6 people it might be a lot more - maybe 2 taxis instead?

As a side note, you can check into the MGM at the airport and get your room keys there - presumably so you can go straight to the casinos without spending precious gambling time checking in at the hotel. At least, that's what I think.

Also, I think there are SUV/ Van taxi's in LV that seat 6 passengers I think.

There are also very cheap car rentals in Las Vegas. Last time I was there, I think the car rental was about $12 a day. The rental company may have been Thrifty. You could also bid through Priceline. It was nice to have a car to drive from hotel to hotel, especially since hotel parking is free.

The "easiest" way to get from the airport to the MGM for 6 people is a limo. Because the driver will meet you in baggage claim and obviously the car will be just for you guys. It is usually around $30-40 an hour, plus tip. The shuttle is just more hassle because it may stop at other hotels first to drop off other passengers, and the max amount of people in 1 mini van cab is 5. So I would call Bell Trans or CLS or some other limo service and reserve a limo.

While there are SUV taxi's I think they can only carry 5 people. In your case getting a limo pickup is probably your best bet. There are many reputable firms, i.e., Presidential Limo, Ambassador Limo, Bell Transportation to name a few.

Thanks for all your suggestions. A limo it is!

In April I walked from the Luxor to the Thrifty Rental car at the airport. I could have easily pulled my 21" rollerboard along for the ride.

From the airport to the MGM would be less then what I walked.

Just a thought. :-)

See these two links:

Both look like a good option for you.

Thanks for the limo suggestions. I called about 6 different companies and all were "sold out" I've arrived in Las Vegas before on a Saturday and the airport was mayhem as far as cabs and shuttles were concerned. I am thinking that "indytravel" may be right in that walking would get us there quicker. Does anyone know if there are sidewalks from the airport down to the strip? Thanks again for all suggestions.

Walking will not get you there quicker and you'll be schleeping luggage through a part of town that is not the nicest.

There are dozens of taxi's outside waiting to take you to the hotel (you will have to queue for a few minutes). You might need two cabs. Each cab should be no more than $15.

$30 total...this isn't rocket science.

Check out the weather forecast. It may be still hot in October. Imagine walking with luggage and carry-on. Bring water.

And if you decide to walk, check out if there is a line for shuttles or not.

Man, it is REALLY a short ride, and one with fairly easy access too, because I have stopped there at the sports book without having to go onto the strip proper.

If it was my group, we would split up and just get taxis that are on the spot. IMHO, it's a whole lot less trouble than locating your specific limo or shuttle, anyway. 3pm actually, I would walk for sure, if it was I.

Take 2 taxi's - there are always a zillion of them lined up at the airport. The taxi line moves very quickly. MGM is so close it won't cost more then about $10 per taxi.

trippinkpj Nov 3rd, 2006 03:00 PM

With the sold out limo's, I think the two Taxi's sound good. There may be a long line though.

Dukey Nov 3rd, 2006 05:26 PM

You can get the Grand to arrange a limo but that will cost plenty and for the short ride it wouldn't be worth the money IMO.

And don't even THINK you can walk it because you can't.

Take two taxis as others have recommended.
