Early Freaky Friday Rant!

That is is pitch dark outside by 6PM.

That one of my cats has fallen into the toliet despite never going near it before.

Fran Dreschers honkin' voice on that Old Navy commercial.

The Joe Boxer commercials from last year aren't airing this year.

Seagull poop.

memejw Dec 18th, 2003 01:52 PM

GoTravel, I can second everything but the last one. Doesn't apply.
I'll add my own rant: I lost my key card at lunch to get into the office building. So until I get a new one I'll have to call every office extension until I can find someone to open the door for me!
P.S. Will the Carrot Top 1-800-CALL-ATT ads ever die?!!

Scarlett Dec 18th, 2003 01:53 PM

Poor GoTravel, between the seagulls and the wet kitty, you need to be taken out to dinner!

OK..mine is:
When I got to the car dealership to pick up my newly serviced and detailed car, they couldn't find it. Because they left the key in it, some other customer got in it and drove off thinking it was his car. I got it back, but I was steamed! And the car smelled like Garlic!!!
But everything is ok now.

Are we Raving too?
Pup got a Christmas collar..red velvet with bells on it. Every time he makes the bells ring, he looks behind him LOL

Jocelyn_P Dec 18th, 2003 02:02 PM

Rants:
My 3 year old keeps asking to paint our house in red and white stripes like Cat in the Hat.

My friend changed her cell phone number, just after I memorized her old one.

My one year old figured out how to climb up on the bathroom and kitchen counters--anything's game now!

Rave:
The weather is gorgeous here in San Diego today. Aaaahhh.

sundowner Dec 18th, 2003 02:09 PM

I'm having a yucky day so I'll only rave

We are having an absolutely beautiful winter day here in Texas - a chilly 36 this morning and 68 this afternoon and not a cloud in the sky. How perfect is that.

GoTravel Dec 18th, 2003 02:15 PM

Poor Scarlett! I hope they fumigate your car!

I forgot about Carrot Top. As bad as those commercials are, I can't get past his overplucked eyebrows!

Jocelyn, I hate that for you! At least they are primary colors!

Sundowner the weather will get better, just think, the 21st is the shortest day of the year!

Paul Dec 18th, 2003 02:28 PM

RAVE:

I'M PACKING, I'M PACKING I'M PACKING!!!

*VACATION HERE I COME!!!*

(sorry to have shouted)

Marilyn Dec 18th, 2003 02:35 PM

Ooo, GoTravel, I would say ALL the Old Navy commercials.

My rant: gray skies and my own inertia which has left me at home for the holidays despite opportunities to be elsewhere.

Meesthare Dec 18th, 2003 03:06 PM

Okay, so figure this one out: somehow last night, I put my cel phone away without turning it off. Realized this when I went to turn it on again this morning. OK - no problem - charged it up a bit in the car on the way to work, brought it home and tried to plug it into the charger. It won't plug in. Can't get the little doohickey into the other little doohickey. It's a new phone but I SWEAR I've used that charger on it once before and it worked fine. I give up. I think I'll throw it into the toilet along with GoTravel's cat.

ronkala Dec 18th, 2003 03:55 PM

the people who feel they have to email every stupid joke, cartoon, political stuff and what not that they get on to everyone they know, and then get out of joint when I ask them not to send anymore to me.

PamSF Dec 18th, 2003 03:59 PM

Rants:finding parking and simply driving across town. Even though I try to avoid the obvious bottlenecks, everyone else seems to have avoided them in the some location! And, it seems everyone is getting a bit wiggy now.

What the expectations of family togetherness do to my clients who have families no one should ever want to get together with(translation:for many folks it's self hatred time)

Raves:a most serious discussion with a four year old last weekend about how Santa can make himself as tiny as he needs to be to get into your house. In fact, he can even come through the mail slot if he needs to!

gatherings and celebrations with all sorts of good friends and well behaved family marking everything from Hannukah to the Solstice to Dim Sum on Christmas.

A travel site that catches my fancy, entertains me most of the time and has led me to some fun and merry souls at its GTGs.

Happy Holidays to all and peace everywhere,Pam SF

Margie Dec 18th, 2003 04:08 PM

Still ranting about the stupid Pantene commercials with Kelly Ripa . . . a shampoo is like a facelift? Or the one where the shampoo is the answer to her prayers and she sings "laaaaaaaa". Makes me want to throw up.

phitnessphan Dec 18th, 2003 04:28 PM

Rants- I got permanent makeup applied to my eyebrows, and I look like Joan Crawford.

Rave- I had a really good workout, and came home euphoric (a eurphoric Joan Crawford)

uhoh_busted Dec 18th, 2003 04:47 PM

Hope it stays nice in San Diego -- we'll be there next week for Christmas!

I agree about the people who only forward cr*P emails about being the best friends in the world....SO HOW COME THEY NEVER SAY ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON IN THEIR LIVES! They think we're friends?

(Scarlett's a true buddy...she sends real notes, and we share a slightly twisted sense of humor...but there are others who drive me NUTS!)

wow Dec 18th, 2003 05:20 PM

Good idea to do this early b/c I am going away tomorrow! Major rave!
Rants: LeeBHaze; almost being involved in 3 accidents this evening while trying to find a parking space @ The Shopping "Maul"; receiving Sparky's Salute from all 3 of the other drivers; cat barf all over my gorgeous grey leather sofa when I arrived home (Shd I throw him in the toilet, GoTravel???)
Rave: Sparky & I are getting married!!
Happy Holidays to everyone wherever you are! See you on Dec 26!

wow Dec 18th, 2003 05:39 PM

Rave: Sparky & I are not getting married!!

Ryan Dec 18th, 2003 06:13 PM

Rant: With the internet, we have the ability to access the cumulative knowledge of mankind in moments. We've never had a greater opportunity to exchange ideas and develop knowledge beyond our immediate field of vision.

So what does America care about - the bucolic exploits of a vacuous bleached blonde trollop who represents the worst of our society.

Rave: Acapulco weather in November. Clear blue skies, warm tempatures, low chance of rain and good value with off-season rates.

razzledazzle Dec 18th, 2003 06:24 PM

Oh, Ryan I so agree! Gravity is surely loosing it's grip! That's my rant.
My rave: I am done with my Holiday shopping and may not leave the house
until Dec. 27th! HA!

beanbag Dec 18th, 2003 07:22 PM

I spend a small forune sending Christmas and Holiday cards and some never mention receiving them. They don't send out any, but that doesn't bother me, but I'd like some acknowledgement of my gesture to know that I care enough. My wife says I'm an old fuddy duddy to care, but dam it, I do. Have a happy Christmas to you all.

Marilyn Dec 18th, 2003 08:37 PM

beanbag, cut 'em from your list next year!

makai1 Dec 18th, 2003 09:44 PM

Having an ornament exchange scheduled tonight with my girlfriends (which by the way was wonderful), Monday afternoon my "beautiful real tree, huge and filled with years of accumulated glass ornaments" tumbled to the terra cotta ceramic floor with the loudest crash imaginable.

What a mess... sappy water (I had just filled it), glass, and sand from a cute little seashell and sand filled glass ball EVERYWHERE!

Oh well, it's just stuff. But what a mess just before a party.

AHaugeto Dec 19th, 2003 05:00 AM

Rant: I came home last night to discover that my husband had placed his gifts to me under the tree, and filled my stocking to the bursting point. His now outnumber mine 3 to 1, and I only put a box of tictacs in his stocking. Damn.
Rave: We both have clothes on our back, food in the fridge, good jobs, working cars, and great families.
Rave #2: Hopefully we'll see his classmate Joey win the house they renovated tonight on "House Rules". Go Merchant Marines!
Rave #3: the fact that somebody mentioned "seagull poop" :)

DeborahB Dec 19th, 2003 05:13 AM

Rant: A certain store tore my vacation photo negatives and now those pictures can not be developed. Will also have to agree with the Old Navy commercial - man that Fran Drescher voice just annoys me.

Rave: Its Xmas time and we've had no snow or ice yet! Yippee!!!

Happy Holidays everyone!

cruisin_tigger Dec 19th, 2003 05:22 AM

"the people who feel they have to email every stupid joke, cartoon, political stuff and what not that they get on to everyone they know, and then get out of joint when I ask them not to send anymore to me."

No kidding! And especially getting them from people across the country and having them consider that their way of 'keeping in touch' but never receive an individually addressed personal email from them.

Rave - Starting to plan our Cayman vacation for next May.

Rave - finally getting an awesome gift for my hubby for Christmas since he's so hard to buy for. :)

OliveOyl Dec 19th, 2003 05:44 AM

Rave: Being in Paris for Christmas, arriving Christmas Eve morning!!

Rant: People who come to work sick exposing everyone else to what they've got!

GoTravel Dec 19th, 2003 06:31 AM

AND WHAT'S UP WITH THIS COLD WEATHER???

I'm freezing!

OO, I'm so jealous you lucky girl!

buckeyemom Dec 19th, 2003 08:02 AM

Rant-People who can't drive in the snow.

Rave-Seeing Christmas through a 5 year olds eyes. "Where do the reindeer go when Santa comes down the chimney and when he's at the mall." And, "will the dogs chase Santa back up the chimney?"

Iregeo Dec 19th, 2003 08:06 AM

Rant: I have NO IDEA what to get my husband for a holiday gift. All suggestions welcome.

Rave:I found the greatest white elephant gift for tomorrow's holiday party! His and hers Spongebob undies; boxers for him, bikinis for her (or, I think that's the way it goes...)

mdv Dec 19th, 2003 08:35 AM

Rant: we have had soooooo many Christmas festivities (forced bonhomie)
at work that I feel I've celebrated Christmas five times..enough,already

Rave: looking forward to a lovely New Year's Eve dinner at an elegant restaurant, although Ryan's description of Acapulco sounds like a great idea for next year.

cd Dec 19th, 2003 08:54 AM

Rant: Yes, yes, yes, the people that send friendship email messages but NEVER include a personal note! AND to make it worse, those "friendship" messages end with, I have an hour to send this message to 5 of my best friends or I'll have to eat cat litter. (or something to that effect)
Rave: Christmas music!

michelleNYC Dec 19th, 2003 10:24 AM

Rant: I've waited until tomorrow to do my Christmas shopping... ugh, yikes and all the rest. Rave: I'll be done with my Christmas shopping by tomorrow.

Ani Dec 19th, 2003 10:32 AM

Rant: Whats up with everyone wanting 80 degrees and sunny??? Its freakin' CHRISTMAS!!!
Rave: We here in Colorado are expenting snow...yay!!!

Ani Dec 19th, 2003 10:50 AM

Rant: Typos...that's E-X-P-E-C-T-I-N-G

Scarlett Dec 19th, 2003 10:53 AM

Rant: the man at the liquor store talking to me like I am a dunce ( blonde maybe but not a dunce)
Rave: the amazing bottle of port that I found (by myself) for the Yankee.

missjanna Dec 19th, 2003 12:02 PM

My rants for this Friday....

1. That our company holiday party was last night instead of tonight. Now everyone at work is hungover, tired, and basically listless including myself.

2. Agree with those Old Navy commercials. The worst is Fran Drescher using the ghetto line of "they fizzled my schizzle" or something like that.

3. The fact that I have to start xmas shopping tonight in a rental car. (I was lucky to even get one!!)

4. People that feel the need to start screaming and yelling after waiting too long on line during the holiday season. Well, what the hell did you expect? A line made especially for you??

5. That everytime I plan on skiing, the weekend I choose to go, the weather never agrees with me!! (ie our lovely hail/freezing rain/snow storm on Sunday)

My Raves:

1. Got a raise and a bonus before the company holiday party.

2. I will be done with my holiday shopping this weekend

3. My family has emailed me what they want which makes #2 a lot easier. But I do wonder whatever happened to being surprised on Christmas Eve.

MightyIsis Dec 19th, 2003 12:22 PM

Rants: I agree with you all about the Fran Drescher and Kelly Ripa annoying commercials. Might I also add the "it's OK I ate Subway" commercials, and the Herbal Essence shampoo ones with women moaning in ecstacy as if they were having a you-know-what when they are washing their hair; then, just in case you didn't get it, they tell you, "it's a totally organic experience". Puleeeze. Andrew Dice Clay is more subtle than that.

Raves: Neighbors keep coming by with homemade cookies today (I guess everyone's baking); we have light snow flurries that look great but aren't sticking to the ground, and that I can find so much in common with complete strangers.

2sweets Dec 19th, 2003 12:43 PM

My rant: Some jerk stole my credit card number and has been charging away...including some expensive software for data retrieval!!
My rave: Had a new card overnighted and we're off to Maui in 4 days!!

GoTravel Dec 19th, 2003 05:55 PM

So autowith, you would be including yourself as you have also replied to this post.

So you are just a big fat loser like the rest of us huh? Welcome to the club. At least post some funny, helpful or clever information.

We can deal with trolls but angry little trolls like you are sad.

Scarlett Dec 19th, 2003 05:59 PM

LOL, GoTravel, I am always agreeing with you!!
I clicked on this newbies name and see that not one posting is pleasant, someone is just enjoying venting his/her bad mood on the rest of us.
Maybe if we ignore it , it will go away?

karens Dec 20th, 2003 05:53 AM

Rave: All the great food around the holiday season! I bake a lot in anticipation of several Dec. dessert parties that we host. We have tons of cookies, truffles, fudge and all kinds of good stuff. We light a fire, put on the lights and Christmas tunes and invite friends and their kids over. I indulge freely this time of year, b/c I only eat like this in Dec. I also found a great recipe for a Raspberry Punch made with white zinfandel wine - another treat we don't have other times of the year.

Rave: Manhattan at Christmas time. I took my 10 y.o. son up this week - it was his first Christmas time visit to NYC. We had a great time. Going during the week was wonderful - barely any crowds compared to the busy weekends.

I'm with you GoTravel - those eyebrows are Carrot Top's are truly scary!!
