E-ticket confirmation

I read here that those with e-tickets must have a ticket purchase receipt. Can someone explain where do I find one if we payed for our tickets to Tampa with Visa?

Grandma, did you get any kind of confirmation document when you bought the tickets? On Northwest Airlines, for example, registered Worldweb users can produce their documents by signing in and going to their itineraries. In any case, I believe the procedure is that you check in at the counter, just as you have in the past (but don't try to check in at the gate). Doing so will provide you with the documents you need to get past security. Best bet: go to your airline's website for the most current information/procedures.

I completed my round-trip yesterday. I made my reservations on-line. I only had a printout of my confirmation when I went to the airport. The ticket agent was nice enough to give us receipts when we showed up at the airport.

Grandma, I made reservations on the Internet and got an e-mail with my confirmation number and the web address where I can get purchase receipt (airline web address). Few days later per e-mail instructions I printed the receipt. Or at least I think so :)

I have purchased 3 e-tickets from Delta.com over the past year and each time I've recieved my "passenger reciept" a week or so after making the purchase via US Postal Service. I would suggest calling the airline you booked with and ask them to send or fax you a reciept. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your generous answers. I called Continental today and our confirmation should arrive tomorrow.

You don't need any receipt or confirmation # with an e-ticket. If you are travelleing on an E-ticket, all you need is your license. I've flown at least 2 dozen times on an E-ticket and showed up at the airport with my driver's lciense. That's kinda the point of an e-ticket, paperless travel.

Grandma:
We are traveling Friday and I confirmed with Delta last night that you just need to bring your e-mail printed confirmation and you will be given paper tickets which are the only acceptable forms to get through security. You also need a photo ID. They also told me you can pack sharp items (scissors, razors, etc.) in checked luggage but not carryon bags. You need to be at checkin at least 2 hours before departure time, even if your flight leaves at 6:30am.

Mike,

That was before the new arrangements were introduced by the FAA.

Mike, your advice WAS good -- prior to September 11th. All that has changed now. In some places they are even saying you must have a paper ticket. Best advice: Call you airline to find out their guidance.
