durango
Will be in durango in July, I am looking for a good place to stay? Me, wife and 2 kids...
We will be doing the train, bar-d, and jeep rental. There are so many options for rooms but I dont know what the best deal is, any help would be great |
I don't know about the best deal, but the Doubletree is a great place to stay. It's a block away from the train station and within walking distance to downtown. We stayed there last July and were very happy with it.
P.S. LOVED the train ride--have fun! |
We stayed at the Holiday Inn.
Fine hotel, only ask for rooms with pool-view/ The others are viewing the parking-area with sometimes car-noices. |
Hello bighonker,
Last summer we opted to stay in a condo rather than a hotel in Durango. I just have trouble paying $100 or more for an EconoLodge type place, when a condo costs the same yet you get lots more room. If you're interested in that route, the Ferringway condos offer good value, plus they're only a very short (2 minute) drive out of the main town. ferringway.com We took the train - reserved the Parlor Car - highly recommended. Jeep rentals - so many places to choose from. We were actually in Ouray when we rented our jeep, but they all have access to the same areas of old mining towns. A definite must-do, especially with your kids. They'll love it! How fun! Happy travels! |
There is a Best Western very conveniently located and a Fairfield Timeshare right across from it. There is a Marriott Courtyard nearby as well.
IF you are looking to save $$ and are willing to drive a bit, try staying in Cortez. Lots of places to stay at lower prices. It is 45 miles west of Durango and you pass MEsa Verda on the way...which is a MUST SEE! |
