Durango
Hi,
I am a norwegian girl who are going to Durango in the end of July. I am interesting in taking a beginners class in Kayaking. Does anybody know if it is possible to do that in Durango. If so, what are the prices?
I also wonder if there is a nice budget hotel/motel in the area? Is it other must do/see in Durango?
Mona: I just checked at site at www.godurango.com. It looks like its put out by the chamber of commerce and is ok, but there are email addresses that you can probably ask more specific questions. Ask if there are rafting/kayaking stores, then call them to check on lessons. Theres a posting a couple days ago that lists a couple places to stay - do a search on Durango. The Durango-Silverton railroad is famous. It is one of a few of its kind in the world and very scenic. You should probably look into reservations for the train. Mesa Verde is fairly close - Indian ruins. Also there is plenty of hiking and mtn biking in the area.
My daughter lives in Durango. It is a darling town, lots to do as mentioned. We stay at the Holiday Inn and use an "Entertainment Card" discount. It is a good location; you can walk to and around town.

There are great ski resorts; Purgatory and Telluride. Kayaking is easy to find - information on every corner, hiking, etc. Beautiful views - you will love it and not want to leave.
