DuPont Circle or Georgetown?

Hi,
I need your help. I am going to DC with my partner in Sept. and will stay either at Dupont Circle or in Georgetown, which area is safest at night and near a metro?
Thanks for your help.

Dupont Circle would be best for using the metro; I don't think there are many, if any at all, stations in Georgetown.

There are NO Metro stations in georgetown, mainly because when the Metro was being built the Georgetown Citizens Association fought to keep the Metro (and more probably a certain type of person who rides it) out.

The nearest stationms are at Foggy Bottom and across the Key Bridge in Roslyn.

There is a Metro stop AT Dupont Circle.

More importantly, what sorts of things do you want to do in the area you are staying?

Hi Evelyn:
You didn't tell me you were going to DC in Septemer...you find out many things reading fodor's.
I'm going the first week of March, renting an apartment on Capitol Hill, but before I found it I was going to stay at Dupont Circle because there are many restaurants and good connections on the metro.
Here is a link to a very small nice studio that fits two, the landlords have been a pleasure to deal with.

Thank you all. We will stay in Dupont Circle because it is near the metro. I did talk to you, Susan, about your visit in March and your apt. Thx.
Evelyn
