Have you looked at the airport's website --http: //www.metwashairports.com/Dulles/ground.htm Do you want cheapest, $2.50 on Metrobus? or fastest, taxi for about $50? or something in between, like bus to Metrorail or shared shuttle?

I found a fare on USAir into DCA instead of jetblue to IAD for just a few bucks more. What about Reagan Airport to the Fairmont? Taxi? SuperShuttle? Metro?

Agree - still go with the taxi. I don't imagine you're trying to squeeze pennies since you are at the Fairmont, but if you were you could metro (right from the DCA terminal) to Dupont for $1.50/person and taxi from Dupont metro to the Fairmont for an additional $6.

Or walk 5 blocks from Foggy Bottom metro (no need to change trains as you would to get to Dupont from DCA).

No its not that big of an issue. Taxi is fine though I did take the Subway in Boston from my hotel last time I was there. Since I am from South Florida, its always nice to experience the subway when I travel.

Unless you're coming into DCA AND your hotel is within a block or so of metro, then taxis makes more sense. Don't worry about not experiencing the metro - once your here you'll be taking metro everywhere.
