Ducks Football

We will be visiting Oregon the first two weeks in October from Florida and are huge college football fans. Oregon will be playing Washington on the 8th at home. We would love to see the Ducks live and experience the atmosphere that is unique to each University. . There are no tickets available on line(surprise).
Is game day at Eugene like most of the SEC school in that you can usually count on finding fans selling tickets on campus by holding up two fingers as you walk around? Can you find them close to face value? Any tips such as parking, tailgating, traditions not to miss would be appreciated.

I am sure you will find tickets on Craigslist before the game- and also fans selling on campus but not sure if they are face value or not. Your best bet as far as parking is to stay at a hotel close to where you can get a shuttle to the game. Or drive to where you can get on the shuttle- I don't go to the games but i think the season ticket holders who have parking spots will tail gate- makes it a little more difficult to do that if you have to take the shuttle but sure is less hassle.

Most businesses close to the stadium post " no game day parking" signs so parking at a close business and walking is not an option.

Go Ducks! Hope we have a good season

I don't think you will find much close to face value. One place near the stadium that does allow parking is the Masonic Lodge. They charge, and while I don't remember how much it is, it isn't a lot.

The stadium at Oregon, Autzen, is not that big - only seats 60,000 or so - thus they don't have the 80,000 to 90,000 tickets available that you find in the SEC.

It is however - perhaps the loudest stadium in the land, so you should love the game - and yes, you will probably have to pay more than face value.

If you are staying near the campus/downtown Eugene - you can take a lovely walk along the river to the stasdium.

And there is usually an open tailgate party in the big building next to the stadium - as well as all around the parking lots - and I can't remember the name the name of the building, and they have the Duck walk 2? hours before the game where the players come in, etc.

You FOR SURE need to check out the great utube videos - I love my ducks!!!!! - by 3 U of O students which became a HUGE hit. Dan Patrick on ESPN loved it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hrjpe1VCNg

If you are willing to accept end zone tickets, Stub Hub has them for $90-$125 each. The sideline tickets are in the $400 range.

Actually - that's one of their later versions - and this is my favorite - Return of the Quack/I love my Ducks.

The guy coming to dinner is former star Oregon QB - Joey Harrington - a great college QB/nice guy - who was a Heisman finalist - but didn't do much in the NFL.

Here'e more on Joey - who might have been the most hearlded Duck QB since the great Dan Fouts - who went on to star for our SD Chargers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joey_Harrington

Good input TomF, and I don't think there are really bad seats in the stadium - as you are pretty close to the action, so go for it. :)

BTW - that could be a very big football game - as U Dub (the Huskies) are rebuilding fast under new coach Steve Sarkasian (former USC QB coach) - and really should be ranked in the top 20 - not at 21.

Other than Oregon traveling to USC on Nov 3 - it might be their toughtest test of the year for the #5 Ducks - who should be ranked #3 IMO - with USC 1 and either LSU or Bama 2nd. :)

The Masonic and few other places do provide parking for a fee and are close but the traffic is horrendous getting in and out.
