Dublin, CA....what to do?

My husband is going on a business trip to Dublin, CA. Since I will be by myself during the day, I was wondering if there were any shopping malls or places to see in the area. Also, any good restaurants? Thanks!

I don't know Dublin area, but there is a great connection with other cities by BART - check the website. You can go to Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco, Fremont. Bay Fair mall is just a few stops away.

There is not too much in Dublin, well, from a visitor stand point. You are better off trying the BART train and take it to San Francisco downtown, or if you want to stay in East Bay, Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek is really nice, which also can be reached by BART- I think we can either walk or there is a shuttle to the shopping center.

Dublin is basically attached to a town called Pleasanton, and there is a mall in Pleasanton called Stoneridge Mall, if shopping is what you are looking for. Also, Pleasanton has a quaint downtown area with antique shops and cute restaurants.

Dublin has a shopping center at the Hacienda Crossing which predominantly has Bed Bath and Beyond, Barnes & Noble, Gap and Best Buy. It also, however, has a 14-screen (I think - could be 16) movie theater and about 10 restaurants.

If you are going to have a car and are interested in wine, the Livermore Valley has numerous wineries that offer tastings. Livermore (to the wineries area) is about a 15-minute drive from Dublin during noncommute hours.

Depends on what you like to do. Dublin has a LOT of shopping of the Target, Toys R Sure Expensive, Ross, Circuit City, & Office Depot variety. If it's mall shopping, then you want Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton (just across the freeway from Dublin.) That's got Macy's, Nordstrom, Talbots, Williams & Sonoma, Pottery Barn & all the usual mall stores. If you want antiques, great restaurants, etc. then head for downtown Pleasanton & stroll down main street. The Livermore wineries are quite close (grab lunch at Stony Ridge or (more expensive but very nice food & ambiance) dinner at Wente.
But really, if you've got the day, it does seems a shame not to catch BART and spend at least some time in S.F. The train costs $4.10 from Dublin/Pleasanton each way to the downtown S.F. stops and takes about 40 minutes. You can shop China Town & be back to meet your husband for dinner.
Lots of great restaurants (most familiar with Pleasanton) -- highly recommend Blue Agave (high class Mexican -- not TexMex! -- with huge selection of tequilas), Barone's for California-Italian (try the crab cakes appetizer), or Haps for expensive but excellent steak & seafood in a men's club decor.)
