Drury Plaza - San Antonio, TX

I've read good things on other websites about the Drury Plaza on the Riverwalk in San Antonio.

105 South St. Mary's is the address for this location. There is another Drury in the 200 block of North St. Mary's.

Does anyone here have an opinion of the first hotel or maybe a comparison of the two properties?

I have always stayed at the Drury at 201 North St Marys. You will not find it moldy or gross.

I believe this old building was a bank at one time. The lobby and hallways have old framed photographs of the building before it was a hotel.

Nice and clean place with good service. Step out the back door and you are on the Riverwalk.

There is an old tree in back of the hotel on the riverwalk. This is the tree a Mexican sniper shot "old Ben Milam" from in Dec 1835, a few months before the Alamo battle.

I have yet to stay at the new Drury at 105 South St.

My extended family (9 people) stayed there for three nights over New Year's weekend. We had three rooms of varying types, ranging from standard to a suite.

It is not a luxury hotel, but overall we didn't have any complaints--especially since it cost less than many other Riverwalk properties for that weekend. It is a newer hotel, so everything seemed in pretty good condition. The pool deck on the 22nd floor has a nice view (it was warm enough for the kids to swim). I liked that it was on a quieter part of the Riverwalk; we didn't walk out the door into throngs of people, but we were still only a few minutes away from restaurants, etc. There's no restaurant on site (I think the other one does??), so no room service. Free breakfast and happy hour were fine--nothing to write home about. Service was very good and friendly. I'd stay there again.

Time to prepare for another trip to SA.

Same question - Does anyone have any comparison/contrast of these two hotels?

I stayed at the 105 St. Mary's and enjoyed my stay. I'm just curious how the other location compares.

Thanks :)

We are primarily going to SA to hang out on the Riverwalk. Boudro's and Pat O'Brien's are definitely in the plans.
