Drury Lane Theater, Chicago
 

Has anybody been here? Are the performances well done? They are doing Fiddler on the Roof in June and I am thinking of taking the family.

We have attended performances at Drury Lane and been very pleased. You won't have Broadway level productions but its professional and well done (not the average community theater type stuff). Several hotels in the area if you need to stay overnight, lots of restaurants and shopping.

I like the Drury Lane and see a couple of shows a year, even had yearly subscription at one time. I like it because it is fairly intimate. There really isn't a bad seat to be had. Tickets run $25 (sometimes less), good price. IMO it is a step up from community theatre, but certainly not broadway. We have enjoyed every show we have seen over the years.

I agree with the above-posts but double check before you reserve tickets because one of their locations is shutting down. It's the location on the south side around 95th street.

I assume you know that it is in Oakbrook, not in Chicago, and that you will need to drive there. The performances there are usually very good, cmeyer54's description is accurate. I have seen several productions there over the years and have never been disappointed.

Tickets are much cheaper than Broadway shows downtown. Figured we could shop at Oakbrook Center, then go to the show. It'll be a great day out.

There are a bunch of good restaurants in Oakbrook, Wildfire and Mon Ami Gabi are the two that popped into my head, both are located at the mall. You can get reservations at www.opentable.com.

I agree with the above posters. The Drury Lane has great shows, seat are all good, comfortable and it is affordable. There are alot of great restaurants in the area. My favorite is Tuscany which is across from the Oak Brook Center - excellent Italian food. A couple of other places that we like in the area that are more casual are Emilio's (tapas), Uncle Julio's (mexican) and PF Chang's (asian). These are all a little further than the mall but only about a 10 minute drive.
