Driving the Route 2 Loop from West Glacier to East Glacier

Approximately how long does it typically take to drive from West Glacier to St. Mary, using the southern/route 2 route? We plan to make several viewing stops, but I'd like to get a feel for how long the drive would be without any stops. Also, is this an easy drive, or is it twisty/turny, white knuckle driving? Thanks for your help.

Its a good round, not windy roads. Very rural, not many cars. I would estimate 60-80 minutes drive time West to East Glacier, but I didnt time it. St. Mary's is another 20 minutes or so North. Stop and see the mountain goats licking the rocks.

Approx. 2 hours or more to St.Mary's depending on traffic, motor homes on the road and falling rocks temporarily blocking the highway.
It's an easy drive and scenic drive, not white knuckle at all.

The route skirts the south end of the mountains that form Glacier. The railroad follows a similar route, so you know that it cannot be too bad.

I thought it relatively featureless.

Thank you all for the very helpful information. It was just what I was looking for. I'm glad the ride will be easy....otherwise I'd be traveling with a grouchy driver/husband.
