Driving over 4th of july

I will be driving from Long Island NY to Baltimore/Washington airport on Friday July 5th. Naturally I am concerned with holiday/beach traffic through most of the route. I plan on taking I95. I am wondering if anyone has some knowledge of the route and the type of traffic i will be encountering for my late afternoon flight.
Thanks

Many people will be combining the July 4 holiday with a "day off on Friday " to make a long weekend or and extended vacation so they will, in all probability, already be at their destinations. I would expect traffic, in general, to be lighter than usual.

You don't say where on Long Island you are traveling from but assuming it's somewhere on "mid-island" you are talking about a trip of some 250 miles - figure a minimum 4 1/2 hours of driving time.

I think that is an incredibly optimistic time.

I-95 all the way or NJTP?

The Delaware Memorial Bridge can be a major hang up on holiday weekends as can the Maryland tolls.

I believe I95 is the NJTurnpike. (except for short sections of I295.)
Thanks for the heads up about the bridge and tolls. I will try to use an ez pass to make it easier.

Some of I-95 is the NJTP. They separate, and I-95 goes thru Philly and Wilmington. A section of 295 parallels the NJTP in South Jersey. You can avoid the Delaware Memorial Bridge by joining I-95 further north.
