driving in charleston

I will be going to charleston in sept and staying w a friend who lives on daniel island. She says cabs are $30 ea way and that I should get a car. Does anyone know how expensive parking is at garages and how far is cab ride from airport to barksdale house where I am staying the 1st nite.

Check out the below for taxi and shuttle rates:

Your friend might be right...even though it looks like the shuttle is $12 pp from the airport to the peninsula, getting back downtown once at Daniel Island looks to be costly. Parking at city owned garages is $12/day max. Unfortunately, the bus system does not go to Daniel Island. I would check with the Barksdale House about parking at their facility also if you're going to have a car. It looks like you can rent one for about $35/day +taxes. Maybe you can do better on that rate...

thanks for advice. It might be better to have car than hassle of daniel to town commute. I thought parking would be $60/day like NYC. I can live w $12
