Driving fromDenver to Breckenridge in Feb-SUV?

Since we'll be there in the middle of Feb, should we rent a SUV or would a mid-sized car be OK?
Thanks!

While you're going to be on I70 most of the way (which is usually well maintained), I still much prefer to get 4-wheel drive that time of year.

Car is fine; it's what we've driven to the mountains for decades. If the roads are not good for regular cars due to weather, they're probably not good for SUVs either.

Family did Keystone the end of Feb this year. We had a minivan and had no problem.

I'm also driving from Denver to Breck in February! We are planning on renting a regular (front wheel drive) car.

I think it depends if you're used to winter driving or not. If not, go for peace of mind and get a 4 wheel drive. Even with plowed roads, I-70 can still be icy and slushy in the winter.

Thanks for all the responses and opinions! There is a big difference in price between the two, so we are leaning towards a car, especially since some of you have had good experiences with a car. We are from New England and are used to driving in snow. Of course, if I can find a deal for a 4-wheel drive, then I'll rent that instead!
