Driving from Stanford to San Francisco Airport - looking for seafood with a view along the way for dinner.

Will accompany DH on business trip to Stanford (Palo Alto). He will finish approximately 6PM. We will return to Westin SFO Airport for the night to fly out next day. Would love to have a slightly romantic, not overly expensive, somewhat casual dinner together along the way. Where would you recommend? Seafood with a view would be ideal. I had hoped to go to Sausalito, but its quite a drive in the opposite direction. Anywhere south of SFO that compares?

Thanks.

Hi,

There is some nice restaurant on 880 in Oakland called Jack London Square if you are going this route instead of 101.

There is also a very nice Chinese Restaurant with very reasonable price. The seafood is very reasonable there.

Unfortunately, it would simply make no sense to go that route. You would take either 280N/92E or 101N -- a straight shot about 16 miles. You would never get near Oakland.

Haven't been there in several years, but Kincaid's might fit your description. It is in Burlingame, just south of the airport, with view over the bay.

Lots of nice bistro type places in Palo Alto, along University or California avenues, but not with a view.

If Kincaids is still around that might be your only option. There really are no restaurants with views on the Peninsula....and not too many seafood restaurants at all, unfortunately.

I'll give it more thought. In Palo Alto you will find the best restaurants, then a couple more in Burlingame. If you stay in P.A. - Evvia is fabulous, and Three Seasons is a lot of fun - kind of Vietnamese fusion with a great menu.

Try Bella Vista, nestled in among the redwoods on Skyline Drive (Highway 35) on the Peninsula. It has a gorgeous view of the bay (as their name suggests - see the pictures on their home page). It is not a seafood place per se, but it does have a lot of seafood on the menu.

It is definitely romantic.

You could take Highway 84 west from Palo Alto up to Skyline Dr. Head north on Skyline to Bella Vista and then after dinner continue north on Skyline to Highway 92 east, back to either 280 or 101 and then up to SFO.

Thanks all. Sorry this posted twice. Didn't seem to post the first time, so tried again and then....bamm, there it was twice.

At any rate, your suggestions are all worthy. A view isn't the most important issue, just thought I'd ask for the moon and see what you could come up with. Bella Vista does sound lovely. I'll try to MapQuest it for directions.

We have Kincaids here at home, so not quite as appealing. What good bistros would you suggest in Palo Alto and Burlingame?

Thanks again.
