Driving from Pittsburg to Charleston, West Virginia

Where would you stop in between to spend the night. We like to stay in the middle of towns that have some interest. Any help would be appreciated.

I would stop in Marietta, OH - right on Ohio - WV state line located on the Ohio River. Marietta is the oldest town in the Northwest Territory and has a picturesque setting on the banks of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers - there are interesting shops and restarants located on Front and Second Streets, home of Marietta College and many places of historic interest, including Mound Cemetery, the Castle and many beautiful older homes, especially along Fifth St. The Microtel is a nice lesser expensive place to stay - several good non chain restaurants, including Austyns, , Buckley house, the Galley, Levee house right on river and two bar type restaurants with great food - the Townhouse on Front and the Harmar Tavern on west side of Marietta - good beer, sandwiches and appetizers. You will be about an hour and twnety minutes north of Charleston
