driving from NJ to Yellowstone
My boyfriend and I are planning to drive from central Jersey to Yellowstone in Early August. We have 10 days--had been planning on stopping briefly to see the badlands, mt.rushmore, devil's tower on the way. however, after reading postings here I was wondering if that would be too much-- perhaps we should just do south dakota or yellowstone. any suggestions appreciated.

Is there any way you can fly there? You're going to spend most of your 10 days in the car getting to and from Yellowstone. There is so much to do and see out in that area (Grand Teton National Park, Jackson, etc.) that you'd be better of if you can afford it to fly. Last year we flew from the east coast to Denver, saw some of Colorado and then headed up to the Yellowstone area before returning to Denver to fly home. Or you could fly into Jackson.

We spend two weeks every year driving from northeast texas to northern montana and have time to do a few things along the way including tetons, yellowstone, and glacier. We have even gone over to Mt. Rushmore.

You'll be driving a lot. We usually drive 10 or 12 hours a day so we can get out there and do as much as possible.

I think that 6 of your 10 days will be spent on the road. It is hard to drive more than 700 miles a day for several consecutive days. From NJ to Yellowstone you are facing a 2200 mile drive. So if you do 3 days of 700 miles each, you will get there. You can spend 4 days in the park, including the Tetons, and then head back.
I have done that kind of driving, but it is not much fun unless you just love to drive.
Good luck.
