Driving from Miami to Key West

My husband wants to rent a motorcycle in Miami and drive to Key West. Would this be a long boring ride, or are there things to do and see, or stop at on the way??

Thanks, have never been to Florida.
It will be about a 4 hour drive & it will be boring until you pass Key Largo. The ride on the bike will be refreshing & you get the total view & the great smell of the ocean air. Take a break on the way down to Key West & enjoy some of the best sceneryto be had. The ride itself, depending on the traffic, is about 4 hours.

Thanks for that information. I forgot to mention that we'll be going in the middle of February Is this a good time for motorcyle riding? How long is it from Miami to Key Largo? I can only stand to sit on that motorcyle for an hour at a time, then need to stop. Are there good places to stop?

Maybe it's because we've driven from Miami to Key West so many times, but I really fail to see the glamour of the trip. I know others love the trip, so maybe you should give it a try.

Well, have been reading other postings as well on the drive from Miami to KW and get both pros and cons, so am kind of confused here, but my husband has been to Key West and loved it, so insists he wants to go there. However, we're going to ride down on Weds., stay over night, maybe two, then drive back to Miami and stay there a couple days. We're probably going to spend a total of 5 days in FL (Weds to Sunday). I hope it's worth it!

As you're going south from Miami, you'll go through Homestead, then Florida City. Just the other side of Florida City, you'll see a sign pointing left to Card Sound Road. Take it.

It's truly two-lane blacktop. Probably the way the Keys used to be. You're going to go a few miles, then come to Alabama Jack's. It's an open-air bar right at the Card Sound bridge.

It's a great country bar, with the road on one side, water on the other, and live country music on the weekends. It's not open late--the bugs get too bad--but for funk and fun, it can't be beat.

We're going to be there late this Sat. afternoon. And I've been looking forward to it since I was there last year.
