I was planning to update this post today! Been a crazy week, getting our daughter (along with 69 other Americans) on a (nicknamed) "Repatriation Flight" from Dublin after Trinity College closed and gave all remaining students 48hrs to leave. Got her to Dulles (no medical screening, just given a pamphlet to read!); she overnighted in a hotel and arrived in Knoxville yesterday. Suitcases were left in the garage and wiped down with bleach solution; and ALL laundry was washed. Yesterday DH, DD and I began 14 days of self-quarantine.
Regarding DS. His dream job is with a federal agency and he and his and fellow trainees are currently sequestered on a base. His position is classified as "essential" and as of last evening when we chatted he is still on track to depart next month. He will fly solo; and when travel restrictions are lifted we will all visit. Stay Well, Everyone! |
Thankfully his job is considered essential, and also with a govt agency. I am aware of large employers that have indefinitely delayed employee start dates for those who have accepted offers, and this includes gov'e agencies. Private co's are laying off or furloughing many people now so being a new grad is a tough situation. Thankfully for them Obamacare allows parents to carry children until age 26.

An update. DS and his cohort were graduated early in order that everyone might return home or head to their field offices. His field office encouraged him to work from home to the extent possible, "for the foreseeable future." When faced with flying solo in his DC apartment or hanging out with family (DD is home now from Uni, as well), he hurried out of DC (only passenger on his flight!) and is now "staying at home" with us. Four strong personalities under one roof again...

There's a lot of that going around these days, in addition to corona. |

There's a lot of that going around these days, in addition to corona. Point 1. Tuna cans DO NOT go into the dishwasher. Point 2. Any task requests put forth by Senior Management were not "suggestions." Point 3. The question, "What's for (insert meal)?" was Verboten. All told, we're faring well. Really. :) |
Thye question in point 3 could lead to "Can I help?"

With 3 of us in the house "what's for dinner" is a much easier question. Per all the advice I've heard we are strictly limiting the # times any of us goes out to the grocery store. We're now down to 1 curb side pick up per week, and no in-store shopping / browsing / see what we can pick up. It takes planning ahead, but that's not hard.
So 3-4 or so days a week it's something cooked fresh (but we already know what's on hand), 2-3 days it's leftovers, and about once a week it's breakfast. |
