driving conditions

were coming in from dallas tx on march 10th, staying in buena vista, what are the roads like? is this 4 wheel drive country, or do you need chains to get around? there are 5 of us traveling and we usually rent a van, but im hoping that this will work for us. anyone know of a good hotel in cripple creek? preferably a casino hotel? i posted another message and everyone was very helpful, hope this will also help.

The roads around Buena Vista, and in fact the entire Orlando area are well paved. You shouldn't need chains or 4wd.

I don't think there are any casino in that part of Florida.

Very funny, ipod robbie!! :-))

But seriously, donnie, it's always best to tell us what state you are speaking of. Obviously you aren't going to FL, but I'm curious as to where you are going.

For Cripple Creek hotels, you might check Carr Manor (not a casino) or the Imperial, maybe the Midnight Rose - I think the Imperial is more centrally located in town, but not positive about that. There are several cool old historic buildings that are now casino/hotels. You won't need chains, but I always think 4WD is a good idea, just because you can never be sure what conditions will be like. The same is true for the roads around Buena Vista. Me, I'd rather have 4WD and not need it, than need it and not have it! But you're not looking at dirt roads and deep snow unless you decide to go exploring.
