Best option is staying IN Manhattan at the Travel Inn with free parking. Outdoor pool in the bargain.
Next best option (imo) is find a good hotel deal in Manhattan and park the car in an iconparking.com lot IN Manhattan. The Salisbury hotel, Raiod City apartments, the Envoy Club, oneo f the Affinia hotels--all have large suites. STill easier than schlepping back and forth to NJ. Next best option either Sheraton on the Hudson in Weehawken, NJ (across the river with views of Manhattan) or one of the Jersey City hotels (people have been successful bidding on Priceline and getting the Regency Hyatt there but don't know about rooms for 5). |

Personally, I would recommend that you skip driving into NYC and take the PATH train to & from Jersey City. SInce you want to take in two shows, you need to be able to take a late train and the PATH train does run quite late as a I recall from Manhattan but the last outbound train from Penn Station (Amtrak) is at 10:45 p.m. MetroNorth also runs late so you might me able to take a train to Peekskill or Poughkeepsie but that's quite a haul back from a full day in the city. Parking in Peekskill at the MetroNorth station is very limited though. I did that once on a weekday and had to park on the street which was only good for a couple of hours which worked for me that day. Also, I forgot to mention that you might be able to get a good deal on a hotel in Jersey City on Priceline. I stayed at the Candlewood Suites but didn't get it on PL and kicked myself when I found that out later. :) I was quite pleased with it though and it had free parking which was a plus as you can pay a bundle for parking even in Jersey. Hope you post how your trip went so we all know how you made out. Enjoy!! |
Great article. Thanks for the link. Very interesting which were "toss-ups" and where Jersey City won out.
