Las Vegas Hotels

I am trying to decide on the most suitable mid-price Vegas hotel. Should we try Luxor or Excalibur? Does anyone have experience of 'Station' hotels? There is a new one, Sunset Station, opening in June. Will it be as good as their internet advertising suggests?

My fiance and I went to Las Vegas last August and feel in love with it. As a matter of fact we are getting married there nex week. He works with a lot of people that go on a regular basis. We get alot of strong recommedations for The Golden Nugget and that is where we are staying next week. We also liked the MGM and the Monte Carlo. Good Luck! It's a fun place to visit. Stacey

Have been to Vegas many times. Luxor - layout of hotel is terrible. Excalibur - too many people with children in strollers. Mirage - over rated and too pricey. Golden Nugget - one of our favorites, but downtown. If you have a car, it would be the best place to stay. Stardust - Another good choice. Big rooms, with small casino. We are going in June and trying the new Monte Carlo. From what I have heard it should be very nice. They have a wave pool, adult pool and a lazy river. Sounds like fun! Hope you have fun too!

I go to Vegas on business two or three times a year - sometimes at a 2 week stretch. The Stardust is a bit run down except for tower rooms, Iwould suggest the Tropicana. $69/night and ask to have the view of NY NY. Great pool. Casino is so-so. The Sunset Station is a long distance from the strip. There is a "standard" mall across the street and they have movie theater but it is grand isolation from the parade on the strip.

The Station casino/hotels are very nice and they have trolleys that run between them, so you aren't stuck "out" somewhere. If you are driving, my favorite places to stay $$-wise are Lady Luck, Golden Nugget or Four Queens - all downtown - almost never see kids!

Just got back from staying at the New York New York hotel. It was really a lot of fun and the rooms surprisingly were very quiet and dark (for those mid-day naps). I'd recommend staying there. There's always action downstairs, esp. late at night.

The Mirage is gorgeous! If you love gardens and a beautiful outdoor pool setting this is the place for you. Ran $169 a night rack rate.
