Drive Las Vegas - Santa Fe

I am having a hard time figuring driving distances. Would like to drive from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon (south rim )stay overnight and drive to Monument Valley (two days) then drive to Santa Fe via Canyon de Cheye(sp). Could this be done in four days?

I looked at your post title and thought you meant the original Las Vegas, which is only about an hour from Santa Fe... :-)

Yes, that should be doable, but you'll be spending a lot of time in the car. Get some maps or a road atlas to get a better idea of the distances, or, if you're an AAA member, ask for a TripTik.

Las Vegas, Nevada to South Rim Grand Canyon via Hwy 93, I-40 & hwy 64 is 280 miles and approx. 5 hour drive.

Grand Canyon to Monument Valley via Hwys 64, 89, 160 & 163 is 180 miles and approx. 4 hours drive. Give yourself time to stop at the scenic overlooks as you exit the Grand Canyon.

Monument Valley to Canyon de Chelly via hwys 163, 160 & 191 is 130 miles and will take almost 3 hours.

Canyon de Chelly to Santa Fe, NM is 290 miles via Hwy 191, Hwy 264, Hwy 491 (previously Hwy 666), I-40 and I-25 is 290 miles and approx. 5 hour drive.

Yes, this can be done in 4 days, but you will only get a glimps of Canyon de Chelly if you spend 2 nights at Monument Valley.

Thanks for the replies. Utahtea- you are right about the stay at Monument Valley may re-think. Thank-you again.

Did this trip w/o Monument Valley - way too much time will be spent driving and not enough time to enjoy the beautiful sites!
