Drink with a view in Vegas

Hi all, going next week. If hubby and I want to get away from business for a drink or two and a very interesting view of LV, where should we go?

I would recommend the cafe at Paris that sits on the strip. (I think someone said it was Mon Ami Gabi, but I can't verify that). If it's warm enough, like today, you can get a table outside and watch the fountains at the Bellagio. I can't think of a better place to sit and view Vegas.

If it's at night, one place to think about is the Stratosphere tower. I believe they have a bar separate from the restaurant, but I'm not sure. The views are spectactular - you can see the whole valley. It's breathtaking and ultra romantic. Have a great trip!

Every bar in every casino in Las Vegas offers a drink with a view. There are so many things to see and people to watch, I suggest you explore on your own rather than go for any special destination.

When we were at the Mirage last year, I had alot of time to myself because my hubby can gamble way longer than I can. I found a barstool at the end of one of the many lounges on the casino floor. I spent a couple of hours a day watching the people go by. Caught some fascinating things like a bride slapping a groom across the face and a drunk guy dropping money and his wife (partner) picking it up behind him and putting it in her pocket. It was actually quite fun.

Instead of the Stratosphere, I'd recommend the Voodoo Lounge on the top of the Rio. It's far better than anything the Stratosphere has to offer - including the view.

You could also - if it's too chilly for Mon Ami Gabi at Paris - get a window table in any of the Bellagio restaurants or bars and enjoy the fountains from inside.

Parrothead,
Did you have to keep drinking while you were peoplewatching? I love to pw but would be afraid that they would have to haul me out on a stretcher if I did it for too long by myself. BTW, we are staying at Mandalay Bay, is that a good place for people watching?

The bartender didn't seem to mind that I was drinking slowly. He pretty much left me alone unless my glass was empty.

Mandalay Bay is a very happening place. But some of their bars are not on the casino floor, though they are great fun. They have a rum bar that is a visual overload. FYI-their fancy restaurant where woman are on bungy cords in the wine cellar--skip it, the food and service need lots of work and prices are ridiculous.

I love having drinks at the Voodoo Lounge but another great place it the Fountain bar in Bellagio. You can sit outside on the patio when it's nice or inside when it's not and watch the beautiful fountains!

Working CES or "the other show"? We call it adult-dex!

What about the Palms? We've spotted many famous and colorful characters there when we go for dinner. We're not drinkers, though, so I don't know about bars. What do you guys think?

The Palms Hotel has a fabulous bar with a terrific view on the top floor of the hotel, the Ghostbar...the view is incredible, it even has an outside terrace. You will definitely spot someone famous there.
