Dress code for dinner in Park City?
 

I will be in Park City this weekend (first time). Other than ski gear, I am packing just sweaters, jeans and tennis shoes. I have been doing some research online for restaurants (Chimayo, Wahso, Grappa, Easy Street, etc.). Would I be under-dressed at these places? Or should I just stick to more brewpubs/restaurants? Thanks in advance.

You will not be under-dressed at any of these places. Also check out Cafe Terigo.

I probably wouldn't wear sneakers to Grappa. It's a little nicer. Sweaters, nice jeans and some decent shoes will be fine in most of the PC restaurants.

It's a ski town. Quite casual. Sweaters, nice jeans and snow boots of any sort are fine.

The snow will be great and we are finally supposed to have a whole 2 days of nice sunny weather and warmer temps!

I think any 'ski town' restaurants welcome guests in very casual clothing. Even Aspen. Park City struck me as the same way. You will love it there.

I was in Aspen last week, and Park City a couple of years ago and concur with everyone else - jeans and a sweater and snow boots, even if you don't want to wear sneakers, are fine. I wore nice Uggs to one restaurant in Aspen where I noticed that the dress ranged from ski clothes (actual ski clothes) to little black dresses and diamonds.

I'll always remember celebrating New Year's Eve at the Elks Lodge in Jackson with local friends. People were there in everything from ski clothes and actual ski boots to tuxes and formals with diamonds. Some were in western wear, some in blue jeans. Very fun party!

That's just one reason you gotta love the Rocky Mountain states-- people are pretty informal and 'real' (for the most part!).

Wow, there were plenty of people in Aspen I would not put in that category LOL!

DMLove, have you spent much time in Aspen? With all due respect, what you said sounds like what people think Aspen is like, when they have spent only vacation and holiday times there. At those times, life in Aspen is far from real, I agree! Just as at all resort towns.

No disrespect meant, seriously. Sure, Aspen has lots of glitterati visiting and living there. IMHO, at its core, Aspen still has its old Wild West attitude, an impudence, a rebellious gonzo-journalistic spirit. (Hunter S. Thompson lived there, remember?) That's the side of it we enjoy-- besides its flat out amazing natural beauty.

For the most part, I meant to say, residents of the Rocky Mountain States are 'real' people. I love it here.

I was only there as a visitor, and I definitely think you're right about residents....but the people we saw at restaurant after restaurant are the ones I'm talking about (the ones who were in mini-skirts and tank tops and diamonds when it was -1deg.F outside :)

I do know what you mean. We used to have some high entertainment every year during the Sundance Film Festival. 99% of the people on Main Street would be all in black with a cell phone glued to each ear and a ciggie hanging out of their mouth. Most of the women would be in spikey heeled boots, slipping and sliding, some in unfashionable fur.

Over the last few years, the attendees have become a lot less trendy (still some) and a lot more practical!

Dayle, I live in Colorado, can't ya tell? I'm just slightly biased in favor of my home state. We are nearly natives, at least since 1968 (for the most part).

Thank you Jimingso for the Cafe Terigo reco. My husband and I had dinner there Saturday night and the food was delicious! Park City was so beautiful and we will definitely be back (of course, I will need ski lessons).
