downtown to o'hare Frida at 5pm in 30 minutes possible?
have a very tight schedule coming up in chicago. Flight time is 6:30pm on Friday, and meeting not over until 5pm sharp.
Anyway to get to ohare in 30 minutes....will have luggage to check so i need the 60 minutes. no later flight so no choice except to stay over. I have not used the train, so I was wondering if anyone has used it from downtown to ohare and what the transit time is like thanks |
Sorry, the train is running slow due to track problems. It was never less than 30 minutes, anyway - more like 40-45 from downtown, but now is closer to an hour. There is just no way to make that flight, even with curbside check-in, because security lines will be long. Taking a cab on Friday at 5 is a long shot, because traffic is extra bad on Friday afternoons in summer.

thats what I figured, but thanks for the confirmation!

I agree with the above post. At 5 pm, a cab is sure to get stuck in traffic. The Blue Line train will take you about 60 minutes.

You absolutely need to change to a later plane - since there's no way you'll get on one at 6:30 - esp with luggage. I would go for 7:30 at the earliest and 8 as better.

Sorry - there are no later flights at all? Even different airline, or other nearby airport? Is it a small town with only a few flights a day?

Mark, I had the TV on from 4-5 P.M. today (Friday) and the trip from the Loop to O'Hare was under 30 minutes for the whole hour. Admittedly, this is an unusual weekend, with people headed downtown for Taste of Chicago and the Police concert at Wrigley Field instead of out of the city, but those traffic reports surprised me. So there is a longshot chance of making it in a cab in a little more than 30 minutes.

That's the time once you get on the highway. From the meeting, down into a cab, through the loop, and onto the highway can take 15 minutes.
