Downtown SF to Noe Valley

Can this be done on public transportation? Easily? Thanks. I did read the Noe Valley Stroll? thread but nothing about getting there (I believe).

The light rail, J Church Street should get you close enought.
Did you see the link for SF transit I put on my trip report?

I noticed below the map on the Noe Valley tour, there was a link to get directions. I clicked it and got this:

Take the J-Church. When we lived in the Noe Valley I took it downtown to work. From Downtown, sit on the east/left side of the car when you board (which is the side you board on). As you travel through Dolores Park, there is a great view of downtown at the southern edge of the park - slightly behind you. Get off at 24th street & walk west to Castro (towards the Twin Peak tower). Turn left on Castro and then right on Jersey St to walk to the Noe Valley Libratry - which is where the tour starts. Directly across from the library, there are three identical Victorian Houses. We lived at the one on the left (west) 428 Jersey. The current owners have not maintained it properly. I build the stairs.

Thanks so much. Will be interested to see your house, Stu. I do want to take the tour but was also thinking about having dinner at Incanto. Any idea how long the ride is from downtown? We could drive but how is the parking?

Once you get on the J-Church, it is about 15-20 mins. Get off at 27th st just in front of Eric's Chineese restaurant. Then walk 1 block in the same direction the J-Church was traveling to Duncan - Incanto is on the corner.

I never have trouble parking, but we visited Incanto about 3 weeks ago & got a parking ticket ($85) because I parked to close to a cross-walk that wasn't there (Ellen wanted to protest the ticket, but I didn't). Just read in the Chron today that SF is adding more traffic cops at night.

Much better to take the J-Church for you.

Shees, same thing happened to Dan in Carmel. The car was "touching" the parking line, not even a crosswalk. We just looked at it as added tax to our dinner.

Thanks for the info!
