downtown seattle
i will be cruising out of seattle in october & will be arriving one day early & want to see a couple of places.
i want to stay in a hotel that is < $100 a night that is within walking distance ( < 0.5 mile ) of pike's market. can anyone help? thanks |
You might try Priceline or Hotwire for the downtown area. The downtown district of Seattle isn't that terribly huge. Walkable if you're used to hills. If not, it'll be a VERY short cab ride down to the Market.
Otherwise, I think $100 might be difficult to come by. At least I couldn't whole-heartedly recommend a place. Oh, maybe the Ace Hotel www.acehotel.com. It's a contemporary hotel but has some hostel type rooms (shared bath). It's in the Belltown (bar and restaurant) district and an easy walk to the market. |
Priceline or up your budget. Go to www.betterbidding.com to get an idea of what hotels you'll be bidding on in the area and what prices have "won" the bids lately.

If you want nice but cheap, stay at the International Hostel. It is located right next to Pikes Market. I stayed there last week. They have an included breakfast, security locks. I would say it is the best hostel in the United States. You will also get a chance to meet many many travelers from other parts of the world.
Here is a link. www.hostelz.com |
In October you ought to be able to get something on Priceline for under $100. Start no lower than 3 stars downtown, 2 1/2 stars at Lake Union. I would book something sooner rather than later, as things like conferences and sporting events (football, but, sadly, not likely post-season baseball - :( ) can fill things up on weekends in October.
And once again, it's not Pike's market. It's the Pike Place market. Never belonged to anybody named Pike. Pike's is a peak in Colorado. The only Pike's Market Google could find is in northern Maine. Pike, not Pike's. Pike. Sheesh. |
If you were to search the Washington forum for "Seattle Hotels," you would find several threads about budget hotes.

Ace Hotel
The Moore Hotel Sixth Avenue Inn Kings Inn Ramada Inn are the only ones I can think of besides bidding Priceline, and only the first two would I recommend. |
BTW, you can get a private room at the hostel. The bathroom and showers are down the hall, and there are plenty of shower curtains for privacy.
