Downtown NY restaurant advice?

We are staying in the financial district over a weekend this fall. Can anyone recommend moderately priced restaurants in the vicinity for dinner? Also, good delis in the area for a quick breakfast?

There are very few moderately priced restaurants in the area that will be open for dinner on a weekend. You might try some of the restaurants on Stone Street (Adrienne's for pizza, there's also a smorgasboard restaurant). There are also some choices in the Seaport. But your best bet is probably to walk to Tribeca.

What do you consider moderate?

Roys is pretty good and reasonable.

Tribeca is a short walk and has some very nice places. For good reasonable Greek, try Delphi on W. Broadway and Duane St. Some other places that come to mind in Tribeca are, Duane Park Cafe, Gigino's, and Landmarc.

You can search restaurants, view menus and read user comments on menupages.com.

Les Halles on John Street is very good for steak frite and moule frite.

The seaport itself offers nothing in the way of lunch or dinner. There is however, Salud at 148 Beekman, that offers tapas at table service only. And there are a number of new restaurants on Front Street we have not tried.

Delmonico's Grill is much cheaper than the main restaurant and just as good.

For dessert try Financier's.

For a quick lunch there are a number of Irish and English pubs inlcudung Ryan McGuire and Pound & Pence.

Also for lunch there is Korean palce on John that fills up by 12:03 for lunch.

And do not forget to get storemade chocolates at Evelyn's on John Street. Not elegant but an excellent bargain.

Bubby's on Hudson St.

Gold St located at 2 Gold St. is another possibility. Part diner, part sushi bar, all-day breakfast - pretty diversified menu. Open 24 hours. Best to just look them up on menupages.com to see what all they have.

For a quick breakfast try Mangia on Wall. For a truly nice breakfast try City Hall.

The Amish Kitchen would be a good deli choice for breakfast.

Bridge Cafe is nice (though I haven't been there for a few years)-- a little north of the south street seaport and just south of the brooklyn bridge in its shadow -- mayor koch used to like to eat there.

Thanks to all for the suggestions!

For a very nice meal: Roy's in the Marriott on West Street. We live across the highway and had our anniversary dinner there.

Il Brigante is a cozy Italian trattoria on newly-renovated Front Street near the South Stret Seaport. There are quite a few nice restaurants in this area - take an evening stroll and check out the menus.

I second Adrienne's Pizza Bar on Stone Street. There are quite a few others on this block that are nice.

One of our most memorable meals was at La Borsa di Roma. I understand that they've changed named and moved a block, but are still really, really good and a good price:

Is the Amish Kitchen the same as Amish Fine Foods on Battery Place?
