Downtown Indy hotel or B and B
 

I am going to a wedding in downtown Indy in early October. Looking for a good place to stay. Would love a place close to a walkable part of downtown with things to see and do. Would like to stick to $100 budget. I will be staying two nights.

I have no suggestions but wouldn't be married to staying downtown, there is not a lot going on there, particularly after working hours.

Use Hotwire.com to get a really good rate on a downtown hotel in Indy. Last time I used it I stayed at the Westin for like $90 a night. Indy is growing like crazy so there is a lot more than there used to be going on downtown.

Anything you recommend us seeing or maybe a few dinner suggestions?

You could not do better than the Nestle Inn B and B in the Chatham Arch area of Indianapolis. The best hosts we've ever encountered, great breakfasts, pretty rooms. And a wonderful neighborhood for walks (shops, restaurants, wonderful old homes.) You can walk to downtown too!

It depends upon the weekend. Indy can have some stunning, I mean stunning, Priceline deals on "off" weekends. On a weekend in March the DT Hyatt was $114 a night. I got it for a $48 bid plus taxes a total of $62.

If you haven't been to downtown Indy in 10+ years you don't know what's going on. Bars, restaurants, and nightlife abound. Not to mention the museums, NCAA hall of fame and walking the canal for the fountains and memorials.

I'll only recommend high end, independent restaurants, which are sadly lacking in Indy. 14 West at (duh) 14 West Maryland :-) is excellent.

Out Massachusetts Ave. (Mass. Ave. to locals) is the German Rathskeller, Agio's, Scholar's Inn, R's Bistro and my favorite Elements for nice dining. This is easy walking distance or a $5 cab ride.
