Downtown Disney hotels for New Years Eve?????

Hi there,
we will be staying from the 30th December for 3 nights before driving to Fort Lauderdale for a cruise.
We will probably only go to the Animal Kingdom and maybe Hollywood Studios.
We were last in Orlando when the Animal Kingdom was being built so are sure to notice some changes.
It will just be my husband and I who are in our 40's.
We like seeing the sights, eating out, shopping and relaxing.
Where do you suggest we stay?
We do realise this is one of the busiest times of the year, but are hoping for a romantic place to stay.
We will be flying in from Sedona . Phoenix where we are spending Christmas.
We are from Australia and are wondering what the weather is likely to be like at this time of the year.

Go a lot for high views over Disney fireworks for new years

walk 1 block or so to Downtown Disney

Buena Vista Palace #1 Royal Plaza #2

the higher the better specify view room

orbitz.com other booking sites

on NYE Hyatt Grand Cypress is nice but too far to walk

to downton disney other hotels lower poorer views.

Happy Hunting,

We are a little older then you with a lot of the same interests. When we go to that area, we like to stay on Disney property, all the disney buses go to Down Town Disney. We like Animal Kingdom lodge for the higher end, and Port Orleans Riverside for moderate. Family joined us a year or so ago and stayed at the Hilton directly across the street from Downtown Disney (which I assume you already know is not a disney park or property) and it was very nice. Another place I have never stayed at but looks nice is Gaylord Palms, it is probably 15 minutes from Downtown Disney and the Theme Parks.

As far as the weather that time of year, it can be anywhere from 40's to 70's.

Hi everyone,
thanks for your great suggestions.
We will probably budget between $200 and $250 per night.
I realise it will be more expensive on New Year's Eve.
Hopefully, this will get us something decent.
I will check out the hotels discussed and get back to you.
Any other thoughts about what to do at this time of year wll be appreciated.
Thanks again
Donna

Look at the Swan or Dolphin, they tend to have lower rates at holiday time than other high end Disney properties. Easy walk to Boardwalk or even Epcot restaurants. New Years eve on the Boardwalk would be fun.
