Downtown Cleveland restaurants
We will be in Cleveland on Thursday August 28, staying at the Renaisannce (sp?) and will be going to the Indians game that night. Can anyone suggest a restaurant for a family of 5, including 3 teens. Is there anything within walking distance or should we go to the Flats? Looking for a locally owned restaurant, not a chain. Not fine dining but something nice. Nothing ethnic, looking for American food. Thanks for your help.

Cleveland has some great restaurants, and many are within walking distance of Jacobs Field:
1) Winking Lizard - fun food, great wings
2) Flannery's - great fish & chips, amazing ass't of beer
3) Ferris Steakhouse
4) Pickwick & Frolic - great food, attached to Hilarities Comedy Club
4) Hard Rock Cafe, Mortons, Hoolihans, Fuddruckers and more - all located in Tower City, adjacent to the Renaissance. Tower City has great shopping for teens.
Will you have a chance to tour the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Its amazing, located on Lake Erie's waterfront, next to the Great Lake's Science Center and new Browns Stadium. Good, moderate restaurants are nearby in The Galleria, and Hornblowers is on the water, built on a lake barge with great views of the city on deck.
The Warehouse District also has some very nice restaurants but are a bit more upscale.
Have a great time! Go Tribe!

To go to the Rock Hall and Indians game in one day would be a great day...and it would take up the whole day! You should get to the Rock Hall around 11:00 or 12:00. You'll want to stay til 5:00 (closes at 5:30 anyway). You better know where you're going to eat 'cause the Indians game starts at 7:05. Have fun!

There's some nice places in Coventry (area near Cleveland), Mongolian BBQ (maybe that is too chain though), and a chinese place.
The best would be to go to Murry Hill, Little Italy...if you like Italian.
The above posters had some good suggestions too. There are also great restaurants in the flats though and that is very close to your hotel. (if you have a car, which I assume you will).
And I definitely also recommend the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Don't forget to shop a bit at Tower City.

Nope the Warehouse district isn't the same as the Flats. The Warehouse district will be closer to your hotel, it's practically part of downtown.
The flats isn't far though, 10 minutes tops...probably 5.
