Downtown Chicago-What to do?
What are the best casual music (blues/rock) clubs in downtown Chicago (loop area)and great restaurants?
|
Go to the House of Blues on State Street or go to one of many clubs on Rush Street. Been several times to the Back Room for jazz, it's great.

For restaurants go to the Corner Bakery for breakfast (delicious pastries), Italian Village for pasta, Chicago Chop House for steaks, Signature Restaurant in John Hancock for the food and view, and if you have time make reservations to go to Charlie Trotter's for a food experience.

Lilly's on the 2500 block of Lincoln has great blues, low cover and big drinks!

Nacional (sp?) 27 on Huron is an excellent restaurant. If you are willing to get out of downtown, try Rose Angelis, 1314 W. Wrightwood (between Racine and Southport). $10 cab from Michigan Ave.

House of Blues for Jazz
Italian ...Rosebud's on Rush Street..or Gene & Georgetties (/)..For steaks the Chop House is wonderful...and if ya want a really great hot dog try the "Downtown Dog"...just north of Chicago Ave. on Rush Street next to Pippen's Bar..

I have heard good things about House of Blues. For steak I don't think anything is better then Gipson's, but make reservations! For pasta, Rosebud is very good.

I have lived near or in Chicago all my life - best restaurant, money no object-Charlie Trotters or the Everest Room. something a little less expensive, but very romantic - Geja's for fondue and wine. Best pizza - Gino's East. Ed Debevic's hamburgers is a fun place. Agree with Rosebud's for Italian, or try Tuscany's. Agree with House of Blues.

try berghoffs rest { brewery } very good and reasonably priced with a good menu selection. would reccomend you go see second city while in town.

Geha's was great - a unique dining experience you can't get anywhere else in the country. (World?)
