Dover - restaurants & things to do

My sister has to spend time in Dover each month as part of her Reserve time. Anyone have any good dining suggestions? Things to do/see? that might keep her entertained when she's not working.

Hoping that she has a car, parts of the nearby Atlantic coast are very nice with lots to do. The Rehobeth area has become very popular. Until the July 4th-Labor Day peak periods, the drive is very easy. My favorite is taking the Ferry to Cape May, NJ which is a well-kept secret in the Northeast. The Ferry takes passenger traffic at a much cheaper rate.

THanks for the ferry suggestion but she will need to stay in the area of Dover.

Lots of restaurants in Dover....for Italian have always loved Romas near the Air Force Base, it's been there something like 30 years, for Happy Hours can't beat TGIFridays, Monday to Friday, free food during the week and good food, for upscale dining Michelle's at Dover Downs......many people also like the buffet at Dover Downs.....a great place for a reasonable and very good dinner is Sorentino's about 2 miles north of the Base, from Monday to Friday great early bird specials....plenty of things to do, as mentioned, the beaches.....she must go see Lewes Beach, a quaint Victorian town on the Bay and Rehoboth Beach where there's a boardwalk, but stay away from weekends in the summer if you don't like a lot of traffic; however, I believe there is now a bus that goes up and down the state.....a lot of history in the Dover area and the flowers are beautiful throughout the town in the spring and summer. Anyway, i have lived here for over 30 years and think Dover's a great place and only a few hours drive from 4 major US cities. Hope I've helped.
