Doubletree Downtown Boston- parking?

Hello! I just booked the Doubletree Hotel Downtown in Boston for a weekend stay. I see that valet parking is $34 per day- yikes! Does anyone know if there are nearby street parking options? We'll be driving up from NYC.

Thank you!

There are a few lots around there right off of Washington Street that should be more like $20/day (perhaps a bit more), but certainly less than $34/day. If you don't mind walking a few blocks, there is a municipal garage on Federal Street that should also be less than that - not sure what the weekend rates are, but it's about $12/day for weekday parking (if you can get in, that is - there is usually a line - shouldn't be the case on the weekend).

Find Post Office Square (Congress, Franklin, Pearl Streets) on a map. It's located in the "financial district" which is nearly vacant on weekends. There many garages in the vicinity where you can park for the entire weekend for about $34. Just ride around looking for the "weekend" rate on the signs.

You can walk to the Doubletree (about .6 miles).

Hello! We're leaving for the trip on Friday. Given that parking will cost us money, we're debating taking one of the inexpensive bus lines instead. It will cost us about $60 together, as compared to parking costs Friday night- Monday afternoon.

What do you think? Worth it? Or should we just drive?

Having a car
Pro: you can go home whenever you want to, and the only crowd in the vehicle will be you
Con: I-95 across CT and RI, esp Providence; parking fees
Neutral: if you are staying at the Doubletree you are extremely unlikely to need a car while you are there.

It is cheap to park at Post Office Square for the weekend IF you do not in-and-out.

If you are talking about those chinatown buses, then I think you should drive. those things scare me. I suppose a regular greyhound bus would be okay.

if it affects your decision, keep in mind its supposed to snow a LOT tomorrow. the roads will probably be clear by Friday. there will almost certainly be no on-street parking to be found...its rare anyways, and even more rare in snow.

Thanks so much for the Post Office Square tips! It looks like that might be the best choice for us- we can park for the entire weekend for the cost of one bus ticket. We'll have to find somewhere to park on Monday for a few hours, but hopefully that will not be a problem.

Thanks all!
